A Little Life Update

Holy crap. Some of you I haven't talked to forever, and I thought I'd give you a little life update. I know you're so excited. ;)

Ryan and I moved to Rock Springs, Wyoming in August, 2007. I teach second grade this year and am LOVING it. I've had an awesome, crazy year. My class is NUTS. I think that I've done the best job yet managing my class and communicating with parents. Last week I got the OFFICIAL notice that my contract will be renewed for the 2008-2009 school year. So excited! There were hugs and high fives all around at my school that day. I'm always so worried.

While I'm teaching, Ryan's driving. Tuesday through Saturday he drives a dedicated route from here up to north of Salt Lake City in Utah (he can tell you the farthest point on his route...I'm not sure). He went to school in California in October to get his CDL and now drives a pumpkin. It's so nice to have him home at night (usually!) I don't know if I could handle him being away for weeks at a time. He's not nearly as stressed out as he was teaching last year. There's a little more fun in our life now. :)

Here's some pictures of his rig:

Here's Ryan in OUR rig (and obviously I've made him grumpy):

I always have news health-wise. Last year I had HORRIBLE headaches nearly every day. I was refered to a neurologist in Casper who did a sleep study, an MRI and MRA on my brain, all of which came back normal.

But the answer to the headaches was suprisingly simple: I have Type II Diabetes. I suppose part of is my poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, and another part is that I'm morbidly obese. I was diagnosed in mid-October and have been working on diet and exercise since then. I've lost about ten pounds, but it fluctuates so much its hard to tell exactly how much I've lost. I'm waiting and working for the day when I go to the doctor and the big bar on the scale gets to stay at the lower notch than the higher. I'm right on the cusp. Exercise really works well--if I get a half hour walk in, I can drop a pound a day. With Wyoming weather, a half hour walk isn't an option some days--like today--you can't breathe because it's so windy.

We've also found a church that we like (okay...I like. My husband refuses to have a strong opinion on the matter). So that's good. We're working on paying bills and such. I'm looking forward to two upcoming trips. In early May I'm flying to Reno to see my sister (yay!). She won several competitions at the Minnesota state level for Business Professionals of America, and is coming out for the competitons at the national level. We've got some fun plans for the trip, and I'll be sure to post pictures. I'm also planning a Minnesota trip in June hopefully, through the 4th of July. Then it's back here to HOPEFULLY teach a month of summer school (who can pass up $40 an hour?). August will be spent preparing for the upcoming school year. July will also bring my diabetic education class, which should be interesting.

I guess that's about it. I'll leave you with some more pictures for your viewing enjoyment.
