That's Craptastic, Batman!

The weeks before the end of the school year are DRAGGING by. I think next week might just be the slowest of the slow. My student who has so many behavior issues is FINALLY going to the psychologist, so hopefully we'll get some sort of diagnosis or indication how he can be helped in the classroom and where we need to go from here with him.

Also, a week from Thursday I leave to go to Reno, Nevada, to see my SISTER! I've been feeling pretty homesick lately. Six months away from the family just doesn't sit well with the heart part of me. Mo and I are planning TONS of fun things to do. I want to go kayaking, and maybe parasailing, too. We'll have to see about that one. She's agreed to the kayaking, but I doubt that there will be any shortage of things to do. I'm also trying to contact some old friends from Las Vegas that moved to Reno/Sparks the last time we knew. I think I have a contact for them, but it's in Arizona. We'll have to see how that goes. I'd love to see them again. They were so sweet to us.

I'm SO excited! I just got my final grade for my action research class--an "A"! My professor said that my paper was very well written and interesting, and also very useful for informing future instruction. I seriously think that all teachers should do informal research in their classrooms and share results with other teachers. My next class is going to be really interesting--its about supporting struggling readers.

I had a CRAZY weekend. Friday night I went out to dinner and to a movie with some of my girlfriends from the classroom next door. We saw "Sarah Marshall"...it was really pervy, but funny. If you are sickened by the sight or thought of a full male frontal, do NOT see this movie. Saturday I went with a colleague out to her family's ranch to help out with taking care of the cattle. They were just the babies, and I felt bad about what we did, so I hope that the babies forget about it. We tagged them based on gender, cut their ears (I couldn't stand that), banded the boy cows so they would become steers, and branded them. Kandi's family and friends were a total blast, and I had a TON of fun. Sunday I went to Catholic church because three of my students were receiving their first communion. There were actually LOTS of students from my school that were getting their first communion. I thought we were more of a mormon community, but the catholic church was PACKED for mass, and there were probably 7 kids from just our school that were involved in the event. My little girls were beautiful, and so was my little gentleman in his suit.

Okay, I'm totally whipped. I'm going to finish up this part of my homework and then head off to bed early. We have a staff meeting tomorrow and it will be interesting, I'm sure. We need to make a decision on moving classrooms for next year (I think it's dumb because we have to reopen another elementary school the next year to handle our overflow students), and, since our principal is taking an instructional facilitator job, we need to decide on criteria for hiring a new principal. It's going to be quite an uproar, I think. I'm a little worried about it since I've taken a leadership role in our school this year. I'd like to be on the interview committee, but maybe that's not such a good idea because I can't shut my pie hole.

Take care, family and friends!
